The Cult of Wade Wilson: His life, his crimes, phone calls from prison & his obsessed fans!

*Please be aware before reading this post that I will be sharing some very disturbing details involving violence towards women and murder*

''I killed a b**ch, I choked a b**ch out'' - Wade Wilson.

Do you ever go on to social media at times and think ''Stop the world I want to get off?'' with some of the things you see? Well, I'm sure everyone and their mother right now knows who 'Wade Wilson' is. Maybe you don't know his name but you'll have seen his face, it's hard to miss it. The cocky, self assured prat that was sat in an electric blue jacket and yellow tie (he must have taken inspiration from Bananaman - 1980s British cartoon about a boy who ate too many bananas that he turned into a superhero) smirking as his horrific crimes were read out in the courtroom and as the family and friends of his victims sobbed their hearts out.

I know just by writing this post that I am running the risk of having a hoard of psychotic females after me but I couldn't care less. What I do care about is the fact that two innocent women were brutally murdered, almost a third if it hadn't been the fact that too many people were watching. Also not forgetting the fact that he left a lot of traumatized ex-girlfriends behind him. It seems to be that if you go into Wade's background it appears that he had a habit of using, abusing and hurting those around him.

Like a lot of people, I followed the trial and did my research into his background. The red flags were there all along which his adoptive family claim didn't come into display until he was 13. Wade's biological parents were just 14 and 15 when he was born and due to his young mother's addiction to drugs and mental health issues he was adopted whilst still a baby by a family who were known to his parents. It's unclear if his adoptive parents had told Wade that they were not his biological parents from a young age so he was aware of it. They claim that he had a great relationship with them and his adoptive siblings until he turned 13.

When you are adopted as a child but are unaware of it until you are told maybe when you are a teenager, that can be quite traumatic. I remember finding out that my Dad wasn't my biological father when I was 14 and I was heartbroken and felt lost, like my whole life had been a lie and I didn't know who I was. Luckily I was able to push past that because my Dad is an incredible man and always treated me like one of his own. I'm not placing blame on Wade's adoptive parents but it would be interesting to see exactly what shaped his views and what kicked off this behaviour from the age of just 13 years old. There may have been red flags before that they chose to ignore?

Wade's childhood was troubled, not only did he suffer a number of head traumas and accidents (for which he had numerous CT scans) he got caught selling drugs at school and starting taking them himself as well as committing petty theft. The results from his CT scans never showed up anything alarming but a lot of people argue that a MRI scan would have been a more better approach to see exactly what possible damage could have been done by these head traumas and accidents. An MRI scan would have given a more detailed scan of his brain. In recent times he has been examined (to some extent because he can often he uncooperative) and his lawyers and experts in the medical field believe that there is some possible damage to Wade's brain from past physical trauma and that in combination with the drugs is what has resulted in his behaviours over the years. Others believe that blaming the possible brain damage and drugs is just an excuse to explain away someone who is simply just evil through and through.

Despite offers of support over the years Wade continued to spiral and the drugs took full hold of him. It seemed that the drugs became the most important thing in his life and he would stop at nothing to get his next fix. There continued to be this burning anger inside him that seemed to just grow and grow especially towards women. It would be interesting to learn where the hatred towards women came from because we know he wasn't/is not an incel (involuntarily celibate) and had no problems with getting attention from the opposite sex but one wonders if it was a resentment towards his biological mother? Despite the fact that his mother was a young teenager with substance abuse issues and struggled with mental health (to a lot of people they would be able to understand why it wasn't in his best interests to have been placed in his mother's care but maybe he couldn't accept it, maybe he felt that he was abandoned or that she chose the drugs over him?). Whatever the real story, Wade never experienced that proper mother to child bond that a child needs so desperately, especially during the early development of a child's life.

The most important relationship and the very first relationship you have in your life is with your parents. If there are issues within that structure it can have an affect on a child's development and their future behaviours and views towards relationships in their adult life. All we know is, is that he has a lot of hate towards women to the point he sexually assaulted them, disrespected them, stole from them, used them, beat them and then finally went on to murder two innocent women (whilst claiming that he would have murdered his girlfriend if he'd been given half the chance but it was too public where they were but he did assault and punch her to the point that she was bleeding - side note: when this horrible altercation was retold in court, Wade sat smirking).

Wade contacted his biological father when he was 18 but it wasn't the big family reunion that either of them expected. By that point, Wade was a mess with the drugs, no job, no money and just looking for someone else to sponge off of. I'm sure his biological father wasn't exactly jumping for joy to find that his son had ended up down a dark path in life. I spoke earlier about the possible resentment that Wade may have felt towards his mother, could it be that he felt the same about his father too like ''Why didn't you come looking for me when you got older?, why did I have to seek you out?''. Again, I'm just thinking out loud and maybe one day we may know all of the answers to these questions but like I said before, that extreme anger had to come from somewhere.

Wade's attitude towards his biological father was pretty much the same as his attitude towards everyone else. He started to treat his Dad like an ATM machine, only calling him when he wanted money.

Wade's life was showing no sign of improvement and when he severely assaulted his ex-girlfriend (gagged, sexually assaulted her whilst also leaving deep bite marks on her face and chin). The terrified woman contacted the authorities and long story short, he managed to get away with it. If this horrendous incident had been taken more seriously, Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz would probably be alive today. There were many moments where things should have been dealt with differently and could have prevented this horrific outcome but sadly it wasn't to be.

So in the space of just hours he managed to brutally murder two women, Kristine Melton (35) and Diane Ruiz (43). He never knew either of the victims beforehand and had met Kristine at a bar. Using a false name he managed to charm Kristine and her friend and they partied together and everything seemed to be fine. Kristine and Wade slept together and the next day when Kristine's friend went home, leaving the pair alone and Kristine in bed asleep, he strangled Kristine. From the details of the autopsy we know that he did more to Kristine than just the horrific strangulation. She had several hellish internal injuries as well as broken finger nails (Kristine's nails were acrylic and some were broken off, proving that she must have put up one hell of a fight against this monster). He wrapped Kristine's body up and left her on the floor before stealing her car to go and pick up his girlfriend who he planned to assault and murder, when that plan failed (although he did horrendously attack her in front of witnesses) he took off in Kristine's car again, looking for another victim.

He spotted Diane Ruiz just walking on the sidewalk and stopped to ask her for directions, he was able to charm Diane into the car. At first it was friendly but Diane soon felt like something was not right and Wade claimed that he could tell she was scared (and that was something that he really enjoyed, women being frightened of him) and wanted to get out of the car. He stopped the car in the pretence that he was going to let her out but instead reached over and choked her. He thought she was dead but noticed at some point that she was still alive. Diane ended up on the ground outside of the car where Wade claimed that he continued to drive over her body 10-20 times to the point that he said (his words) ''she looked like spaghetti''

After he had coldly discarded Diane's body he broke into a house where the owners were (fortunately) out of town he then helped himself to their food and contacted his biological father begging for money and a Uber whilst bragging with excitement that he just murdered two women.

His father didn't miss a beat and contacted the cops and Wade was taken into custody. For his fans who make excuses and claim his horrendous actions were due to drugs, how do they explain that three days after the murders, Wade was still bragging to investigators about the murders telling them that he would do it again and that he wanted to kill his girlfriend too. He called Kristine a 'Bit**' and spoke about her with such hate whilst gloating about running over Diane until she looked like spaghetti. He didn't show any regret or remorse then and he's certainly not showing it now.

All the way through this even when the crime scenes were described in chilling detail, he sat there unbothered, pathetic and at times smirking. The only time I ever saw some shred of emotion in those cold, soulless eyes was when his biological father took the stand. We may never know the truth of why Wade Wilson chose to become the monster that he has but some clue is in there with the reaction to his father. It was almost as if seeing his father talking about him in such a manner was another form of abandonment. If one is to believe that all of this hell stems from the fact that he grew up with a complex and feeling of rejection due to being adopted, it does make you wonder. Did he not only feel abandoned growing up but he felt it a second time when his father called the cops (what else was the man supposed to do?) and now a third time, talking about Wade on the stand with such a look of exhaustion and disappointment in his eyes.

Sometimes Wade looked like a delinquent kid sat next to two male teachers in detention, Wade appears to be sat slouched and fidgeting, sometimes you would forget that this was supposed to be a 30 year old man. There's a clip floating about online where one of his lawyers is sitting next to him and the man (who looks to be in his late 50s) suddenly spots Wade's huge swastika tattoo on his scalp and looks horrified.

''They can't get away from me, I'm too strong. I am a lion and they are my prey'' - Wade Wilson

I don't hate tattoos, I have some.....but what I do dislike is 'hate' tattoos! We thought it was bad enough when we saw the small swastika tattoo on his face but during my research into all the crap he's covered himself in, it's pure hate, references of white supremacy all over the place. So he hates women, he hates anyone who's not white, it's all hate, hate, hate but where does it all come from? That's the big question here.

I discussed this with a friend of mine who knows the goings-on in prisons and they believe that Wade (due to the fact there was an incident in which he was jumped on and attacked by a group of guys) is part of a gang. Well, we known he is associated with a white supremacist group known as 'Unforgiven' but my friend says that the excessive tattoos on the face are a sign that Wade 'is property' of someone or a gang (ie: someone's b**ch). It's pretty obvious for a guy who has possibly felt abandoned his whole life to want to belong somewhere and to have that protection in prison. It's no secret that if you are part of a gang in prison there is a shield and some level of protection.

The hand signals he was displaying in court were for his fellow gang members who were probably watching the trial in their cells. That actually happens, some prisoners have access to newspapers, TV and even playstations.

So we know a bit about his background, the drugs, the murders and the fact that he is pure evil so why is such a large number of women drooling over him and showing complete disregard for the victims (and the survivors). In some cases they actually blame the victims and claim that Wade has mental health issues and that it's him that's the real victim. I can't believe my eyes at the endless streams and streams of fangirl comments over him on social media, TikTok seems to be the worst. I watched one video of his lawyer reacting to his swastika tattoo and the next thing I knew he was popping up all over my timeline but not in the way you would expect. These women have made music videos of him, there's pictures of him set to music. There's videos of him set in slow motion where he's walking into the courtroom, close ups of him smiling. And all of that is just the start, there's fan pages dedicated to him, 10 minutes of looking at this stuff and the comments underneath and you think you're in some crazy asylum with a bunch of nutcases who are desperate for a man, any man....even a murderer.

We know that serial killer Ted Bundy and a host of other serial killers received fan mail from women. Ted Bundy was reportedly sent over 200 letters a month from women declaring their love for him. Chris Watts, the very 'man' who murdered his pregnant wife and two daughters receives fan mail. When I wrote about disgraced former singer Ian Watkins, I ended up being stalked by his serial stalker (this woman had been in the newspapers and Ian himself and the prison authorities had her banned from contacting him), the crazed woman wanted me to go into the prison for her. The whole thing was nuts especially as she was pretending to be about 5 different people initially until I called her out on it. That whole situation was bizarre with me ending up giving her some advice and some sort of therapy. I told her she needed to move on with her life. It turned out (as I suspect with these Wade Wilson fans) that this woman had been through a lot in her life and identified with Ian because of his lyrics and music.

Wade was found guilty obviously but we now wait until the 23rd of July to find out if he is to receive the death penalty or life imprisonment. When the guilty verdict was read out he did the usual routine of acting like he didn't care. His fans were making excuses for him and explaining away his behaviour as ''he's on medication'' and ''he's trying to put on a brave face, poor baby''.

I actually wish I could interview some of these Wade Wilson fans (anonymously of course) and find out what the actual score is. How can you be attracted to someone covered in hate tattoos, especially swastikas who enjoyed and celebrated killing two innocent women and took pleasure in domestic violence?

The trouble with these types of women (the correct term is 'Passive Hybristophilia' - a sexual attraction to someone involved in committing acts of murder) is that if they actually got their dream of being with Wade, they would soon get a very rude awakening, because despite what they believe (that they could change him, he'd treat them differently), Wade would take them for every penny, abuse them and (I hate to say it but let's be truthful) murder them.

Where are we as a society that we've lost our human decency? Where has the empathy gone? The sympathy for the victims, the survivors and their families?

An ex-girlfriend has posted a video on TikTok sharing her ordeal of what he put her through and some of the comments are beggars belief. This strong lady who's been through hell and fortunately lived to tell the tale, has been ridiculed by other women because of her looks and body. There's women who are actually jealous because this woman has gotten close to Wade and slated her as a '4' when he is a '10' (those are their words, not mine). Imagine calling a cold blooded murderer covered in swastika's a '10' (talk about setting your standards low....way low...well the gutter actually).

I don't have sympathy for Wade Wilson, only for his victims, their families and the survivors. I feel sorry for his biological father too. That man looks like he's been through it too and he did the right thing (contacting authorities) because Wade would have continued to destroy lives and was dangerous. What should have been done in the first place was his ex-girlfriend should have been listened to when she reported the attack on her. As we've seen in a lot of cases I have covered over the years, red flags and warning signs were always there and in this case, it wasn't just red flags in the case of Wade Wilson, it was flashing red lights!!

Do I think he deserves the death penalty? Yes! If it was a case of brain damage and drugs and a moment of madness without the past history of violence towards women, I may have given him the benefit of the doubt if he expressed complete remorse for all that he has done. But, stone cold sober in the light of day he continued to brag about what he had done. He sat and looked at the pictures of his victims deceased bodies. He didn't even flinch when the details of how Diane Ruiz was found was shared to a horrified courtroom (Diane was unrecognisable due to severe decomposition, not to mention the state in which he had left her in after heartlessly running over her continuously).

I don't know if these Wade fans have actually been paying attention to the details of this case, it's all on YouTube for everyone to see. How can you listen to all of that, look at him and still think he's the best thing since sliced bread? Something is very wrong with our society.

That's my opinion and there's plenty of people in this world who face hardships every day and they don't go on to do what he did. He's thrown his life away but he threw it away years ago, from a very young age he headed down this dark path and just kept on going and the question is why? The hatred, the anger, where did that all come from? Questions that remain unanswered.

I'm sure so many of us will be watching on the 23rd of July to see what the outcome is going to be.

I will be posting regular updates on this post so keep your eyes peeled (all updates will appear at the end of the post).

I just want to take a moment to remember the real victims in this case and the survivors who managed to get away from him. They are the ones that deserve all of the sympathy.

RIP Kristine & Diane.

UPDATES:

Newsweek (July 2024): Reported that Wade has been inundated with over 3,900 messages from female fans whilst he awaits the final outcome of his fate on the 23rd of July. A huge number of the messages included pictures that were explicit in nature and had to be rejected by prison staff.

UPDATE!! July 20th: Fox4Now reported that Wade's sentencing to learn the outcome of his fate has been moved from the 23rd of July to the 27th of August. This is due to the request for more brain scans to be done to determine if he is indeed brain damaged.

UPDATE!! August 2024: A series of recorded phone calls between Wade with a number of women and men, have been made public. Some of the calls are flirtatious in nature and he encourages both male and female callers to call him ''Daddy' whilst he calls them ''baby'' and 9/10 times always asks them to send him money. The misguided fans who contact him have been nicknamed ''The Kiosk Boys & Girls''. One of the videos you may want to watch in regards to the prison calls is available here

As I mentioned previously, Wade did partake in a series of tests as well as an MRI scan. On the 27th of August he appeared in court to learn his fate, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, plastic flipflops and shackles. His fans commented in a live chat that he had lost weight but this was because he was no longer wearing the suits with padded shoulders & the two belts (one for his hernia and the other was a shock belt) under his clothing. He chose not to say anything as it was determined that he was in full use of his mental faculties at the time of the murders. The court determined that Wade knew and planned what he was going to do, they took note of the fact that he assaulted Mila and because he couldn't get her into the car, he drove off looking for another victim which was sadly Diane. The outcome was that he was to be sentenced to death.

So, will this be the final chapter in the Wade Wilson story? Will his fans move on or will they continue to campaign now that he's been given the death sentence? The judge did mention that the petitions which were signed by 40,000 made it through to his desk. Wade knows he has a lot of support and a reported $70,000 (and counting) has been sent to him from fans.

As I watched the court footage, along with thousands of other people I couldn't help but look at Wade and think ''My God, you look so young, what a mess, what a waste and what could have been''. I completely agree with his adoptive parents (who's statement was read out to the court) that the system failed Wade. If things had been dealt with properly years ago, none of this would have happened.

I just want to say a big thank you to all of the Wade fans who did contact me about this and the stories that you shared of your own struggles with addiction and why you felt that you could relate to Wade. I appreciate your thoughts and the time you took to email me.

Thank you as always for your support and I hope you will join me in my next post. Take care until next time....

''Confess.....or we'll send you to the Gas Chamber'' | 20 Years In Prison For A Crime He Didn't Commit

(Angie Dodge. Picture credit: East Idaho News)

As you can see from the title of this post, I have been focusing on another miscarriage of justice case. You may remember me covering the terrible story of Michael Newton who lost 25 years of life for a crime he didn't commit (Michael had been sent to prison for the wrongful conviction of murdering his wife when the cops and the Judge knew he was an innocent man). You'll recognise a few similarities in this case which I'm just about to share with you.

The public have always had a love/hate relationship with the police and over the past few years we've seen quite a lot of bad press about the cops and how they carry out investigations. We've also seen how many in the police force have used their positions to prey on innocent people (using the horrendous story of the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard as an example). Now don't get me wrong, I know there are some good cops out there but we have to be honest and recognise that there are a lot of bad ones too.

We know that in high profile murder cases where there has been a lot of media attention and murders that have happened in small towns, that there is often a lot of pressure on the police to find the perpetrator (or perpetrators) as soon as possible. The victim's family and friends want justice and to ensure that this never happens again. We've seen a lot of cases where cops have worked tirelessly to bring a killer to justice and put some very evil people behind bars but we've also seen cases where innocent men have been sent to prison.

It's shocking to know that we have learned of cases over the years where innocent people have spend decades behind bars for crimes that they didn't commit. It's also shocking to learn about some of the terrible tricks and lies from people that we expect to uphold the law. From an early age we are told that the police are there to protect us, to keep the bad guys locked up, but sometimes, to our horror, we find out that it's sometimes the police that are the bad guys.

Before I begin, I have to say (as I always do) to please be aware that some of the content shared in this post will be disturbing. I always try my best to be as sensitive as possible with the details without shying away from the facts of the case. My aim in this post is to bring Angie's story to you, what happened to her should never be forgotten and also the terrible miscarriage of justice that saw an innocent man lose years of his life and the incredible woman who stopped at nothing to see justice done for her daughter and to help free an innocent man.

Nobody in Idaho Falls (USA) could ever forget the sickening murder of beautiful, 18 year old Angie Dodge in 1996. The poor girl was found dead in her new apartment in what investigators described as a bloodbath.  Some monster had attacked this young girl, sexually assaulted her and stabbed her over and over again, almost decapitating her. It was a horrendous scene.

The police had learned of Angie's death though her work colleagues. Angie was a girly girl and loved all things make-up and glamour, she loved her job at the cosmetics store and would never miss a day of work unless it was something very important. Her work colleagues were also her close friends and everyone had a soft spot for Angie, she was adorable, fun to be around and had a heart of gold. When she didn't show up for work one day her colleagues thought they'd pop in to visit her at her new apartment to check everything was ok.

Naturally they were expecting to find Angie at home but what they were to find was something that none of them could have ever imagined in their worst nightmares. They saw Angie deceased on her bedroom floor, next to her mattress, blood all over the place, it had been a savage and brutal attack.

When authorities arrived they were briefed beforehand that the crime scene would be hard to take and even cops who'd been in the force for decades had struggled with what they were to eventually see. The murder of Angie Dodge shook the local community to it's core and everyone was devastated. Who would hurt a total sweetheart like Angie? She was a lovely girl and had time for everyone, she was also great with kids.

This was a young woman who'd just moved into her new apartment just weeks before and she had everything going for her. The reason she had moved into the apartment was because she wanted her own space and there had been some tensions with her Mother. Angie was very independent and headstrong, like a lot of 18 year olds, she wanted the excitement of having her own place. Shortly before Angie's death she had patched things up with her Mother which was a blessing but the way that Carol Dodge was to find out about her daughter's death was very harsh and inappropriate.

Angie was the baby of the family and had 3 older siblings. Carol wanted to do something special as her older brother was going to be visiting so she thought she'd make a quick phonecall to the cosmetics store and ask Angie if she fancied coming along to a little dinner with the family. Carol was transferred to the HR department and informed that Angie had not attended work because she had been found murdered and advised her to contact the police. It's hard to imagine what was going through Carol's mind at this moment, what a horrible and devastating thing to hear, not only that your daughter has been murdered but to hear it from people who simply worked with Angie. Angie's family should have been informed way sooner. Obviously because her work colleagues had found her, you can imagine the horrible news must have spread like wildfire but still, the HR department should have just said for Carol to contact the police and let investigators break it to her gently in a more sympathetic manner.

Nobody knew who was responsible for Angie's murder but everyone was equally sickened and wanted this evil monster caught as soon as possible, there was widespread fear that he could strike again. The cops knew that the perpetrator was male because of the fair amount of DNA that had been found at the scene. They deciphered from the evidence that there had only been one man at the scene and found semen and hair.

The investigation began with questioning and DNA testing over 100 men in the local area but none of the men tested had matched the samples found in Angie's apartment. The police were at a loss and had no idea who could have possibly committed this horrendous murder and Angie was just a genuinely sweet girl with no skeletons in the closet, there was nobody with an axe to grind with her so they focused on a local group of people who were nicknamed ''The River Rats''. The group would hang out in areas that were close to Angie's apartment and one of the guys, Ben Hobbs who had been a friend of Angie, just happened to be arrested for another horrible crime where he had held a woman at knifepoint and sexually assaulted her.

With no DNA matches and nothing happening, the police became desperate and the local community were getting fed up, not to mention, Angie's Mother who was constantly demanding to know what was happening with the investigation especially as they had so much DNA evidence.

The police decided that they would zoom in on Ben Hobbs because they were desperate to make it look as if they were doing something with the investigation and the fact that Ben was an unsavoury character anyway. One of the group, a young man by the name of Christopher Tapp was brought in for questioning and because the cops were getting nowhere with Ben, they decided it was time to play a few head games.

Originally both boys said that they not seen Angie on the night of her death and had no idea what could have possibly happened but the police didn't want to leave it there. They told Christopher a pack of lies that Ben had tried to say he was involved in Angie's death, Christopher, being young, naive, unsure of what to do decided to make up a story about Ben being involved in Angie's death in an effort to get himself off the hook (even though he was innocent) and to keep the cops happy. The cops toyed with both the boys and suspicion soon moved from Ben to Christopher. There had been a lot of back and forth in the interviews and Christopher had been dragged in five times and each time he told a different story which didn't help matters.

A lot of the time a lawyer wasn't present during these interviews and on the one occasion the lawyer was there, he was useless and just sat and watched as the cops continued to manipulate Christopher by trying to put words in his mouth. At one point (amongst other threats) the cops told Christopher ''Confess...or we'll send you to the Gas Chamber''

Both Ben and Christopher had taken lie detector tests and both were found to be telling the truth. By the time it was all said and done, Christopher had actually passed 7 polygraph tests in total on different occasions and no shred of guilt was found. The DNA at the scene didn't even match the boys. It was a complete and utter waste of time with both of them being innocent but the cops couldn't let it go.

Investigators had decided that because Christopher had changed his story so many times (not taking into consideration the amount of threats put to him and the psychological torture and mind games he endured) that he must be guilty and somehow managed to find a way to fool the polygraph machine.

They wanted someone to pin the 'the murder on, the public and Carol were getting fed up waiting for them to do something. So, knowing fine well that Christopher Tapp was 100% innocent, they threw the book at him and made him go down for it himself.

So a farce of a trial happened and they did what they could to try and paint Christopher in a bad light, a lot of things were hidden from the jury and they even found a fake witness who'd agreed beforehand to lie in court in exchange for getting off of drugs charges. This woman was coached to tell a pack of lies that she heard Christopher and Ben talking about killing Angie.

In a shocking conclusion to the trial, Christopher Tapp was found guilty of the murder and rape of Angie Dodge. The jury came to the conclusion that because Christopher had changed his story so many times, that it had been a sign of guilt instead of what it really was, a young, terrified boy in over his head being bullied by the police to say what they wanted him to say.

Christopher was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment (with a minimum of 10 years for rape and 30 years for murder) on the 28th of May 1998, he was just 20 years old.

To Carol, the family and friends (as well as the wider community) of Angie, justice had been served, they got the monster who killed their beautiful Angie and now he was behind bars and couldn't hurt anybody else. As time went on and Christopher began to appeal his sentence and speak up about what had happened with the police, Carol began to feel that something just wasn't right.

Carol contacted Christopher's lawyer and asked to see the interrogation tapes. Carol sat through everything that was said and was left horrified with an enormous amount of questions. She realised that they had thrown an innocent man in prison and she wanted to do something about it as well as find the real monster who killed her daughter. the real killer was still out there.

Getting Christopher out of prison wasn't going to be easy, the cops were not going to throw their hands up and admit to what they had done, there was jobs at risk, reputations at stake! Instead, any concerns or attempts at another look at things, were simply ignored but Carol was not going to give up. Years passed but she just kept on going and Christopher did what he could from his prison cell.

After years of Christopher being behind bars, Carol joined forces with the Idaho Innocence Project and they worked together to try and persuade a judge to look over DNA evidence again but this was refused.

(Angie Dodge with her parents: Picture credit: Good Morning America)

In 2017 after years of pushing for Christopher to be released as there was public outcry, Christopher was finally able to leave prison. Carol was waiting for him and held his hand when he walked out. The pair became very close and Christopher was and is forever thankful to Carol as well as the Idaho Innocence Project and supporters from around the world who believed in him.

Christopher was free but there was still work to be done, the real killer was still out there and had been free for over 2 decades.

In 2019, a DNA breakthrough came about after a man called Brian Leigh Dripps Sr had matched the samples taken at the crime scene. Disturbingly enough this guy lived on the same street as Angie but he managed to avoid having the DNA tests done back in 1996. He confessed and told investigators that he didn't know what he was doing that night, that he had been high on drugs. Shortly after Angie's death he moved away from the area. If the police had done their jobs properly instead of focusing on two innocent boys then this man would have been caught earlier. He was right under their noses and you'd think they'd make sure that everyone in the neighbourhood had been tested and noticed that he just happened to conveniently move away just after the murder.

He was found guilty by the court, obviously and sentenced to life in prison.

Carol was there again to support Christopher at his vindication hearing and even though it was a heartbreaking story of a young woman who had lost her life and a young man who had lost his youth, a beautiful friendship blossomed between Carol and Christopher. Christopher was amazing, as is Carol and they seemed to give each other strength over all of those difficult years.

In a little bit of justice for Christopher, he was awarded 11.7 million pounds in damages because of everything that had happened to him. He lost his youth and was painted as a murderer and rapist when he was just a young boy who did nothing.

This case is another frightening example of how lies, manipulation, coercion and desperation to find a culprit can ruin an innocent person's life. Who knows where Christopher would be right now if Carol had not pushed as much as she had. I'll tell you where he would be....still behind bars whilst Brian Dripps Sr was still out living his life.

I hope Christopher is sipping cocktails right now on some paradise island. I hope that Carol and her family are doing well too. They've all been through so much. I also think of the friends/work colleagues who found Angie that day, I hope wherever they are that life has been kind to them, one can't imagine having seen such a traumatic thing.

And of course, Angie who should still be with us. It's heartbreaking to know that such a popular, sweet and kind girl who had so much going for her was to have her life taken in such a sick and barbaric way. It's anger inducing to know that the real murderer was living on her street and had managed to escape justice for so long whilst an innocent man was having years wasted in prison. I suppose all we can say now is that justice was finally done but it took a very long time to come and no matter the amount of money that Christopher was awarded through damages, it cannot bring Angie back or change the amount of time that was lost in Christopher's life, he essentially lost a big part of his youth.

RIP Angie x

I just want to take this moment to say thank you for getting through this post with me, it was quite a hard case to take. Brian Dripps was responsible for wrecking so many lives and causing so much heartache. To me, it seems like he's had it easy. He's been out there free for all those years and been able to experience life and now he's of a certain age and finally gets his karma. It just doesn't seem fair and the investigation was a farce along with the trial. Like I mentioned before, no amount of money can ever put any of this right. it should never have happened.

I hope you will join me in my next case and It would be nice to see you on my socials too.

Please take care of yourselves x

''He Stabbed Her 83 Times With A Screwdriver'' | The Peeping Tom Serial Killer: Derrick Todd Lee.

(Derrick Todd Lee: Picture credit: Washington Times)

You may remember me recently sharing the Sean Vincent Gillis case about the sadistic serial killer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana (USA) who murdered, sexually assaulted and mutilated women from the early 1990's up until 2004. Well, I also mentioned that Sean Vincent Gillis was carrying out his evil crimes at the same time as a well known serial killer, Derrick Todd Lee. For some reason Derrick is the one who is more notorious and the one out of the two that people seem to know more about.

I asked my readers if they would like me to cover the Derrick Todd Lee case and they wanted me to so here we are. I would advise anyone who's just happened to stumble on this page to go and check out my Sean Vincent Gillis post first and then come back to this one.

As we know (if you are a regular reader of true crime books or watch documentaries on the subject) Baton Rouge is no stranger to some very shocking and disturbing crimes, as I've mentioned before on this blog, it once had the unfortunate tag of having 5 active serial killers over a 10 year period.

The cops sure had a job on their hands especially with this case that I am writing about here. Unbeknown to the police, they had two serial killers operating at the same time and a number of deceased women with no clue as to who could be responsible. Sean Vincent Gillis was eventually caught and so was Derrick Todd Lee but the story doesn't end there. As I always say, there are the victims that we know about and then there's the victims who's tragic and disturbing end is unknown and here we have quite a number of deceased women who's cases have still remained unsolved and sadly we may never know the truth and that is a heartbreaking tragedy for them and their families.

I think what makes some of these serial killers even more disturbing to us is the fact that they can lead double lives, one of a hardworking, family orientated individual who is often seen as the pillar of the community and then on the other hand, a sick, depraved and murderous monster. They are capable of showing love and affection to those nearest and dearest to them but think nothing of destroying a stranger's life, torturing someone, killing someone, sexually assaulting someone and mutilating them in a final act of pure evil. They commit these evil atrocities and then walk away to continue their other life. Their ability to switch from one to the other has always frightened and disturbed all of us and I think that is why we study them, we read books about them and watch the documentaries. We are trying to understand and figure out how someone could be so evil but the truth is we may never know the answer, the human mind is a complicated puzzle and people themselves are hard to figure out. You could know someone (or think you know someone well) for 20 years and they could turn around and surprise you. It's human nature and it's scary.

So now that I've waffled on a bit in this intro I think it's best we get into this horrendous case and fill you in (in case you didn't know) about Derrick Todd Lee.

Derrick came into the world on the 5th of November (same date as me but obviously not the same year) 1968 in St. Francisville, Louisiana (USA). From the get-go, you probably won't be surprised to hear that there was troubles from day one in the family household. Derrick's father Samuel had long suffered mental illness and walked out on the family not long after Derrick was born. His mother, Florence was glad to see the back of his father who eventually ended up in a Psychiatric hospital due to his illness, behaviour and attempts at trying to murder her. Florence tried to do the best that she could for Derrick and didn't want Samuel around her son.

It wasn't long before Florence met and fell in love with another man, Coleman Barrow. Coleman was a good man who took his responsibilities seriously and looked after the family. Florence and Coleman eventually got married and the marriage and the home life was said to have been a stable and happy one.

Some people might make a connection with Samuel's mental illness and Derrick's strange behaviour in childhood as Derrick began harming small animals and had became fixated at peeping through windows to watch women in the neighbourhood. This compulsion to watch women in their private moments became a constant and very disturbing hobby for Derrick that would last all the way up until he was finally locked up for good. When he was just thirteen years old, he had another thing to add to this list of strange and criminal behaviour, burglary. Apparently all of this was well known to the police, Derrick had already made quite a name for himself at such a young age. He managed to get away with the Peeping Tom and burglary incidences as it was just cast aside as a phase and because he had not exhibited violent behaviour at that point his actions were not taken as serious as they should have been.

As a result of constantly getting off the hook with the authorities, Derrick pushed his luck and did exhibit violent behaviour when he got into a disagreement with another boy and threatened him with a knife. He still continued on with his perverted hobby of spying through windows of the women in the neighbourhood and there was an incidence when he was arrested but this came to nothing and he was soon off Scot-free again without suffering the consequences of his actions.

As Derrick got older, he was able to lead a double life, he met and fell in love with a woman called Jaqueline, it was a happy relationship and the pair were soon married and had two children together. Despite his happy marriage and lovely children, Derrick was never satisfied and could not let go of his old habits. He was unfaithful to his wife on more than one occasion and would go to late night bars to meet women.

Despite a happy marriage and children, Derrick's behaviour was spiralling out of control. He committed a ferocious attacked on a young couple whilst they were just sitting in their car. It was a horrendous and very frightening ordeal for the couple who were attacked with a six feet long harvesting tool. Thankfully the couple survived as Derrick spotted another car coming towards his direction so he ran off and the brave couple were able to identify him later.

Jacqueline had inherited a large sum of money from her side of the family and Derrick, his wife and children were able to live quite comfortably for a while. Derrick even had the nerve to use that money to take other women out on dates behind Jaqueline's back. He even had a long-term mistress named Cassandra Green who ended up pregnant with his child. Derrick was very flash with the money and it was no surprise that after the endless nights out to dinner, the other women, the mistress, the shopping sprees etc, that the money was soon gone and Derrick seemed to be in more of a worse state than what he was in before both Psychologically and financially.

His relationship with his long-term mistress was very toxic with the pair coming to heated arguments on a regular basis. Things went too far quite a few times but Cassandra had eventually had enough and contacted the authorities in an effort to keep some distance from herself and Derrick. Being the control freak that he was, he harassed Cassandra and physically assaulted her for which he spent some time in prison. Part of the conditions of his release from prison was that he must obey the rules and restrictions but Derrick being Derrick he cut corners again and managed to get away with it.

According to investigators, Derrick began his murderous rampage in 1998 in Zachary, Louisiana with the murder of Randi Mebruer. We can never know for sure if this is the exact year that he had started killing because the incident with the two teenagers in the car happened in 1993 and knowing his temperament, that's a bit of a gap between the attempted murder of the teenage couple and the murder of Randi.

Randi is often classed as Derrick's first official victim although her body was never found, the state of her house told investigators that something horrifically wrong had happened there. Blood was found all over the place but Randi was nowhere to be seen.

There was another big jump in the timeline of reported events of Derrick's crimes, his second reported victim was said to have been Gina Wilson Green (no relation to Cassandra Green) who was sexually assaulted and murdered in her own home. One of the similarities in Derrick's crimes was that he was able to charm his victims and able to get into their homes, that's why there was never a sign of forced entry. One imagines that he must have been dressed in one of those designer suits that he had bought with the inheritance money and because of his charming, manipulating personality and smart suit, people felt they could trust him.

It was no longer about spying on women that gave Derrick a cheap thrill, he had escalated from peeping through windows to murdering and raping women. More horrendous murders ensued with one victim being stabbed 83 times with a screwdriver and another was slashed so severely that she was almost decapitated. It was clear to the police that these murders were sexually motivated and they had no idea who was responsible.

As I mentioned earlier, there was a lot of unsolved murders in the area at that time (and Serial Killer, Sean Vincent Gillis was on a crime spree of his own at that time) and as sad as it was, it wasn't unusual for a sex worker to have met a tragic end, in Baton Rouge there was always something going on.

There were mistakes made earlier on in the investigation with the authorities believing that the killer responsible for these murders was a white man. As a result, a numerous amount of time and money was spent questioning/DNA testing various white men in the area. Eventually they got it right though and they realised after various tests had been done, that they were looking for an African-American male.

Dianne Alexander, who is often dubbed 'the only known survivor' was brave enough to help the police. Dianne had been through a hellish ordeal with Derrick Todd Lee and was almost murdered but luckily her son came home at that crucial moment and Derrick ran off, otherwise she would have met the same horrible fate as many others had.

(The Sketch of Derrick that was made public & on the right picture is Derrick in handcuffs. Picture credits: Washington Times)

Using a sketch of what Derrick could possibly look like together with Dianne's help and a criminal profile by a leading expert, the police were able to piece everything together and when the DNA was tested, the results proved that Derrick Todd Lee was one of the monsters that had been plaguing Baton Rouge. On the day that Derrick submitted his DNA sample he actually fled town with his family but was soon tracked down and faced 2 trials, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Geralyn DeSoto and then given the death penalty in his second trial for the murder of Charlotte Murray Pace.

There's always a divide when it comes to the death penalty but in this case, a lot of people believed that the death penalty was a suited outcome because of everything Derrick had done.

The story didn't end with his execution for he never got to see that day, to a lot of people's disappointment at not fully facing justice, Derrick passed away on the 21st of January 2016 from heart disease.

There are currently a high number of unsolved murders in Baton Rouge and many of them are from the time period that both Derrick Todd Lee and Sean Vincent Gillis were operating and the victims fit the profile of the people that they targeted. Sadly we will never know but Derrick is suspected of being the killer of a further 17 women, some people believe it to be more and some believe that he started killing very early on than what is reported. It's one of those cases that leaves you with a lot of questions and not enough answers.

Sadly it seems that the apple did not fall far from the tree in the case of Derrick's son Dedrick who has also fallen into a life of crime with burglary and he was even involved in a fatal shooting in recent years of a teenage boy for which he spent a short time in prison in 2019.

As I usually do, I like to take a little moment in my posts to remember the victims that we know about and the many other victims who have never been identified. I also think about the survivors and their families. I pray for their strength and some sort of peace in their lives.
