Halloween, my birthday plans & my thoughts on recent drama | #Blogtober day 31

(A pic from my current giveaway on Twitter. See the pinned tweet on @TheBloggersPost to enter)

So here we are, finally at day 31 of #Blogtober lol. I can't believe I've managed to post every day of October! I'm thinking about doing #Blogmas but only up until day 24 because I'll be taking a break from all things social media till after boxing day. I think it's important to spend some time with my loved ones, stuffing my face and watching Christmas movies.

Happy Halloween! I had plans to go and see the new Halloween film but I forgot all about it due to 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. I might still go and see it at some point though. If you've seen it, let me know if it's any good.

Halloween for me this year is going to be a night in, some yummy food and horror movies. My other half will be working till late so I'll have to be brave and watch the horrors myself lol! I've booked a few days off of work because it's my birthday on Monday (yeah, I'm a bonfire night baby) and I'm starting my birthday week off by going to a hair & beauty spa to have some pampering. The weekend will be spent shopping, sleeping, binge watching movies or anything I've missed during the week and spending time with my other half (he's booked a few days off work too so that he can spend my birthday with me) and cats!

I still haven't decided what I want to do on my actual birthday. Could do the cinema or a restaurant but still not made my mind up, the only thing I know I'll definitely be doing is eating birthday cake lol.

How do I feel about getting another year older? well, I know sometimes people can get a bit reflective when they approach their birthday and some get scared because they think they're getting old lol but I've been thinking I'm old ever since I turned 18. Every year I was like....Oh no! I'm 20 now, I need to do this and this and this but really, it's all about how you feel and how you take care of yourself. People always assume that I'm a lot younger than I am which is a massive compliment but on the other hand you sometimes get people who talk down to you because they assume you to be younger.

I'm not scared of getting another year older because I'm still the same old Jo with another year added on lol! It does make me realise that I need to look after myself and put my health and wellbeing first. I think people go through this when a New Year starts too, you look back over the year and it can be depressing if you feel that you haven't accomplished your goals in that time. I have a lot of plans and goals that I want to work towards in 2019 and going into it with a new age I hope to be really motivated and get a lot done. If I don't get to achieve everything I want to achieve, I'll just try again the next year. Try to not put pressure on yourself, sometimes people have a really bad year and things don't go exactly as they planned, life is such a rollercoaster.

I'm so excited for Christmas this year and I'm really in the mood to put up the tree and decorations but I need to get some new tree lights. I saw on twitter last week that Jodie Marsh has put up 9 pink Christmas trees in her house already, she was getting a lot of stick for it on twitter but I think it's fun. She lives her life the way she wants to live it and Christmas is a positive time and lord knows we all need a bit of positivity in these times.

I've been watching a lot of youtubers lately and there's been a lot of drama over Eltoria's advent calendar. Eltoria was the infamous youtuber who ''reviewed'' Zoellas rip off £50 calendar last year and practically screamed with delight every time she opened a door on the calendar. It led to a big discussion about sponsored youtubers and whether they could be trusted etc. I wasn't surprised by this because I remember Eltoria used to run giveaways on twitter which involved people voting for her in some blogger award thing as a way of entering the giveaway.

Anyway, long story short, Eltoria has an advent calendar which contains all of the PR samples that she's been sent over the past year. People were getting different items in each calendar and they were all products that were featured in previous videos that she had filmed. Eltoria said in those videos that she doesn't open everything that a PR/brand sends her because 'she donates the products to charity' but it turns out that the products didn't go to charity, they went in these advent calenders. There's tons of videos on youtube about the whole drama (although Eltoria has been reporting a lot of them and has been trying to have them taken down). What are my thoughts on this? She should have told people from the start that she was recycling her PR samples and then donated what money was made from the calendars to charity but then she wouldn't have made any money then would she? I haven't watched anymore videos on the subject but it's still being discussed. What are your thoughts on this?

So, that's a little ramble (it's a little ramble for me lol) about Halloween, my birthday and random stuff! I hope that you have a fabulous Halloween and Bonfire night. I will no doubt blog about what I got up to on my birthday week so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Update: Shortly after I typed up this post on Monday night, my cat MJ who hadn't been well for a few days had collapsed. We rushed him to the vet where we found out that he had cancer. It was such a shock and it was an aggressive form. We had no choice but to put him to sleep. It was a really upsetting night and I don't think I managed to sleep the whole night. Today has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster and trying to accept the fact that he is no longer with us. My pets have always been like family members to me so it's hit me really hard that he is gone. I take comfort in the fact that he had a good life and was loved very much.

Sorry to end this post on a sad note but thought I would just mention it on here as I have done elsewhere on social media.

Much love as always and I'll see you in the next post x
